Team Bios:

Adam Anderson

image sampleAdam was born and raised in Ventura County in Southern California. After various work experiences, Adam enrolled in Cal State University Monterey Bay and earned a B.S. degree in Earth System Science and Policy with an emphasis in Marine Science.  Adam took the opportunity to study marine science in the North and Baltic seas by studying
abroad in Denmark. After graduating from college, Adam's career took a five year detour into the toy design and development field. Adam entered the Bren School in an attempt to combine his love of environmental science with his years of business experience.

 

Kyung Koh

Kyung Koh was born in Korea but moved to southern California with her family when she was two. She received her Bachelor's degree in English Literature and Environmental Studies at UC Santa Barbara. After graduation, she headed straight to Yosemite National Park, where she worked as a park ranger for a few years before moving up north to Washington State to work at Mt. Rainier for a few summers. She also spent a year in South Korea, teaching English to middle school children. She has also traveled to Slovenia, Turkey, Greece, Nepal and Thailand, and spent a couple more summers as a backcountry ranger at Yosemite before deciding to return to her school. Now at Bren, she is specializing in Conservation Planning and hopes to work in natural resource management. This summer she will be interning for the Wood River Land Trust in Hailey, Idaho.

 

Danica Schaffer-Smith

Danica obtained her B.S. in Environmental Science, and a minor in Biology, from the University of Redlands. She was lucky to study abroad with the School for Field Studies in Costa Rica focusing on tropical ecology and issues of sustainable development, as well as developing a love of plantains. Before pursuing a graduate degree, she worked as a Biologist at an environmental consulting firm, conducting field surveys for sensitive plant and wildlife species and CEQA analysis for numerous projects in Southern California. At the Bren School, Danica is specializing in Conservation Planning. She is excited to be applying her Bren coursework to a group project that has implications for natural resources and land use planning.

 

Erin Shapiro

image sample Born and raised in southern California, Erin grew up with grand plans of training marine mammals. A marine mammal training internship with SPAWAR in San Diego gave her the chance to chase her dream. However, towards the end of her undergraduate career she began to realize protecting habitat and conserving wild species was her passion. After graduating from California Polytechnic University, Pomona with a degree in Environmental Biology and minor in Chemistry, she interned with the United States Forest Service. Her internship eventually turned into a full-time position with the USFS working under the District Botanist. Currently, Erin interns with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service learning about endangered and threatened species. She is specializing in Conservation Planning and plans to pursue a career in natural resource management. Erin continues to develop her Botany skills and is a member of the California Native Plant Society and Southern California Botanists.

 

Wendy P Su

Wendy P Su grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. After receiving her Bachelor's degree in Geography/ Environmental Studies and Sociology from UCLA, Wendy started working for the Food Editor for the TODAY Show as a production manager and editor. Looking for something more related to her interests, she started working as both a Dispatcher and Campground Ranger for Channel Islands National Park and a Fire Ecology Technician at Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. Now at UCSB Wendy is specializing in Conservation Planning and Coastal Marine
Resources Management and continues to work for Channel Islands National Park.
