Americans spend billions each year sending single-use packaging to landfills and
recycling centers. These factors result in a cradle-to-grave problem that is costly for
consumers and manufacturers alike. Marketainer intends to phase out single-use
packaging by creating a zero-waste, reusable packaging solution for flowable liquids
and solids, using traditional cereal packaging as our baseline. This solution will build
upon current bulk food distribution systems, while considering each part of the entire
supply chain. To facilitate the widespread adoption of this new system, Marketainer will
employ smart technology and design principles to increase the ease-of-use for all
parties involved, and ensure optimum quality of the products being distributed. In
hopes of creating a viable business, the Marketainer team will gather data, perform a
life cycle assessment on the status quo and identify where improvements are mostneeded,
conduct target market surveys to construct a formal marketing plan, build a
functional prototype, and develop a business plan.
