Hylton Edingfield grew up near San Diego, CA, and attended UC San Diego
and the University of Edinburgh as an undergraduate, receiving a BA in Applied
Mathematics in 2006. After graduating, he worked as a mathematician for Science
Applications International Corporation on a project to optimize oil refinery efficiency
for BP. Once this project was completed, Hylton spent time with his relatives in New
Zealand and Australia, before moving to Chiba, Japan, where he worked as an
English language teacher in public elementary and junior high schools for nine
months. After a detour through Southeast Asia, he returned to the U.S. and
enrolled as a graduate student at the Bren School of Environmental Science and
Management. Hylton is specializing in Corporate Environmental Management with
an Eco-Entrepreneurship focus, and is the recipient of the prestigious Bren
Foundation Fellowship, the Fleisher Fellowship for Eco-Entrepreneurship, and the
Technology Management Program Young Innovators Scholarship.

Priya Vytla graduated in Chemical Engineering from Andhra University,
Visakhapatnam, India in 2008 and joined the Bren School as a Masters
Candidate. She is specializing in Corporate Environmental Management
and Pollution Prevention with a focus on Eco- Entrepreneurship. She is
interested in resource productivity, energy efficiency, life cycle
assessment and dealing with environmental issues in developing
countries.

Katie Tannenbaum was born and raised in California, the daughter of two
professors. She began college at UC Santa Barbara immediately
following high school and graduated in 2007 with a BS in Mathematics
and a minor in Sport Management. She spent the year following
graduation living in the Virgin Islands and traveling around the
Caribbean. She taught Math at the University of the Virgin Islands
while doing sea turtle research through their Marine Biology
Department. She is now back at UCSB working on her master's degree in
Environmental Science and Management.

Rori Cowan graduated from California State University, Monterey Bay in 2006
with a degree in Earth Systems Science & Policy and a focus in marine and coastal
ecology. Following graduation, Rori joined her brother to build a full service real
estate company in Los Angeles. It was there that she learned how businesses work
and how to build internal infrastructure for any industry. She brought this
knowledge with her to the fashion industry where she worked with a celebrity
wardrobe stylist to streamline her business practices. Currently Rori is a first year
Master's student at the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management
focusing in Corporate Environmental Management and pursuing an Eco-
Entrepreneurship certificate.

Faculty Advisor:

Roland Geyer: Assistant Professor - Industrial Ecology, Production & Operations Management

Born and educated in Germany, where he was trained in engineering and physics, Roland Geyer came to the Bren School in 2003 and now teaches courses in production and operations management, and in the emerging field of industrial ecology. Geyer is interested in the life cycle of manufactured goods – the processes in the form of energy and material flows that are related to transforming raw materials into products and, ultimately, waste – and in the environmental and economic potential of reuse and recycling activities. He also studies the evolution of green business plans, a model that relates corporate financial performance to corporate environmental performance. Geyer has worked extensively as an advisor to the steel industry as it evolves and creates better products that can be made with fewer resources.
