Avra Goldman – Project Coordinator
Avra gained her desire for environmental protection from growing up in both rural Canada and Mexico. The remote fishing village of Yelapa, Mexico was only accessible by boat and had remained untouched by electricity, telephone lines and roads during the time that she lived there.
Later, while pursuing an undergraduate degree in photojournalism at San Francisco State University, Avra simultaneously danced in one of the Bay Area’s 7 salsa dance troupes. She was the winner of the San Francisco International Salsa Dance Competition in 2002.
Avra has interned with The Natural Step and the San Francisco Department of the Environment. She is also the recipient of a Women’s Environmental Council Scholarship, 2006. Avra is specializing in Corporate Environmental Management at the Bren School and plans to work in environmental consulting.

Lijin Sun (Jinjin) – Project Manager
Lijin grew up in Shanghai, China. At age of sixteen, she came to America at the first time as a cultural exchange student. After graduating from a high school in California, Lijin went back to China and noticed that her country was having various environmental problems. Desiring to change the environmental conditions, Lijin realized having a good knowledge of the environment was important. However, there was a lack of university programs focusing on systematic environmental studies at that time in China, so Lijin decided to pursue her education in environmental studies in the U.S. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Resources and Management with a specialization in Water Resources Management from California State University, Bakersfield in 2005. Lijin is currently a first year Master’s candidate at the Bren School, where her specializations are Corporate Environmental Management and Water Resource Management. Lijin will intern for Zurich North America Division in Glendale, California this summer.
In her spare time, Lijin enjoys traveling (her favorite place is her hometown, Shanghai), watching sports, and hiking.
