Biological Community Survey & Analysis

Course Description

This class is concerned with the design and execution of field sampling campaigns to inventory and monitor plant and animal communities. We review basic sampling theory, survey methods for both terrestrial and aquatic plants, vertebrates and invertebrates, multivariate analysis of community data, and indices of biotic integrity. Prerequisites: ESM 201.

Announcements

Week 10: Discussion of case study papers on Wednesday. Field trip on Friday, 8 AM - 3 PM. Bring water shoes or waders, a notebook, and field guide and binoculars if you have them and want to use them.
