In addition to the traditional
recycling of cans, glass, paper, and plastic, we recently started the
following programs:

Batteries
A special containers for batteries is located in both the main kitchen
the computer's lab

VermiComposting:
At
Bren we are working to reduce our waste by running a small scale vermicomposting
project. Food waste from student lunches is collected and dropped
off in the worm bins once or twice a week depending on necessity.
There is currently one bin operational with a second planned for operation
in Fall Quarter of 2005.

Ink
Cartridges and Toners:
Not only do we recycle ink cartridges, we also raise money from recycling
them. A special bin is located in the main kitchen. For

Cell
Phones
A bin for cell phone recycling is located in the kitchen, on top of
the vending machine. Cell phones can always be donated to different

Recycling Facility Information
On February 2nd, the Bren Students Sustainability Committee and the
Geography Sustainability Committee took a tour of the MarBorg Industries
commercial recycling facility located in Goleta. This facility is where
all UCSB recyclables get processed.
