About Us:

We are a mix of PhD students and Masters students from the Bren School. The BSSC is made up of a diverse set of people who all have an interest in sustainability and in improving Bren, the UCSB campus, and our community.

We are always trying to get ourselves involved in interesting activities. Here are a few recent ones:

Theme Week:

Theme week is a week where the BSSC focuses on one issue such as water conservation or plastic pollution and makes information available to the Donald Bren School of Environmental Science and Management as well as the rest of the UCSB campus.

This years theme weeks focused on the election. We wanted to give objective information on the environmental stance of candidates. Pamphlets were made to assist voting. We also included a summary of candidates who may not have a clear environmental record.

Another theme was the problem of plastics in the ocean. The film "The Synthetic Sea" was shown in Bren hall and educational materials were spread around campus.

UCSB recently co-sponsored Earth Day in Santa Barbara!

Breanna Flanagan is seen here asking trivia questions prepared by the BSSC. We hoped to educate the public to Earth Day in a fun and interactive way; Prizes!!!
